Cabs Around The World, Everyday Drinkers Edition - Cab Month 6-pack Sampler #1

$121 Value, Sampler Price $89

Six fantastic Cabs from around the world that deliver great "bang for the buck."

1) Les Jamelles (France) - Bordeaux may be the original homeland of Cabernet, but if you're looking for easy drinking, great value French Cab, the Languedoc it the place to go.  Featuring beautiful deep red color, Les Jamelles Cabernet Sauvignon reveals flavors of red fruit (blackcurrant, strawberry) combined with a refreshing, slightly green note (fresh peppercorns, typical of the varietal) and spicy flavors (cinnamon, mint, honey). The finish boasts subtle woodiness (with aromas of cedar, oak and walnut). The tannins are soft and silky.

2) Oak Farm "Tievoil" (California) - This fantastic, rich, toasty and velvety Cabernet is from Lodi, California.  Coming from region long known as Zin country owner, farmer & winemaker Dan Pinella has turned out one of our favorite Cali Cabs under $20.  Deep garnet in color, this Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of complex aromas of black currant, blueberry, cedar, and floral characteristics. The wine is full bodied with echoing aromas on the palate. The finish is abundant in textured tannins, yet smooth and velvety.

3) Wines of Substance "Cs" (Washington) - Many people mistakenly thing Washington's climate would be similar to Oregon and more suited to white wines & Pinot Noir, but the desert-like conditions in the eastern half of the state are perfect for top notch Cabernet Sauvignon. Wines of Substance illustrates Charles’ philosophy of producing exceptional wines at exceptional prices to be enjoyed by everyone around the globe.  "This has notes of blackcurrants, black olives, graphite and rosemary. It’s firm, delicious and so balanced, with firm tannins and yet such a juicy fruit profile. Fantastic value. - 93pts James Suckling"

4) Ringbolt (Australia) - As treacherous as it is beautiful, Western Australia’s rugged southwest coastline is littered with shipwrecks – the wreck of the Ringbolt being one of them. Sunk in the late 1800s in what is now known as Ringbolt Bay, located on the southern tip of the Margaret River wine region, adjacent to Cape Leeuwin.  A bold crimson red in color with magenta hues. The nose has rich aromas of violets, black cherries and mulberries with hints of cassis and forest-floor characters. The wine opens with the pretty floral characters of the nose and a rich blackberry edge before progressing to the mocha oak mid palate and finishing with succulent tannins that continue the experience long after the wine has left your mouth.  93pts James Suckling

5) Enate Cabernet-Cabernet (Spain) - Suggestive, complex nose of woodland fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) with elegant floral touches (violet) and traces of pepper, vanilla and underbrush. A soft, rounded palate on a feather bed of tannins opening the way to a flavorful finish in the mouth, with toasty notes. Balanced acidity, which will make it improve in the bottle over the next five years.

6) Roto (Chile) Cabernet Sauvignon blended together with small amounts of Syrah and Alicante Bouschet from sustainably farmed vineyards sites in the Maule Valley.  A gorgeous Bordeaux-like wine that on the nose shows plum, cassis, leather, and dusty earth with light dried rose petals. On the palate the wine has smooth, soft tannins that wrap around the dark fruit core and a light finish.
